The phrase ‘it’s all smoke and mirrors’ originated from stage performers using smoke and mirrors to distract an audience, to blur their line of sight, which makes an audience believe the things they can see and use their imagination to fill in the grey areas that they can't. Today, the term is used to describe things that are an illusion, distraction or artful deception. The design takes literal interpretation from the elements of smoke and mirrors–using suede, sublimated canvas and reflective highlights signifying the mirror aspects.
