Some things get better with age. A broken-in leather jacket. A cast iron pan passed down through a kitchen. A pair of boots that have seen enough miles to tell their own story. The CNCPTS x New Balance 990v4 “Patina” was designed with that same belief at its core.

“Patina” draws from the world of antiques, estate sales, and heirlooms: objects that accumulate meaning as they move through time and between people. Where most sneakers are bought, this one is meant to be inherited. It is a generational object. One that asks you to think about who wore it before you, and who might wear it after.

That philosophy is embedded in every material choice. The upper is built from waxed suede leather, a hide chosen specifically because it improves with wear. Alternate laces with a woven edge reference antique textiles, while gold hardware details echo the jewelry and fixtures found at flea markets and estate finds. The footbed carries an asymmetrical crack pattern pulled from the surface of jadeite glassware. The color palette (warm tan, burgundy, sage, and cream) reflects the tones of patina’d vintage goods.

The package reinforces the story. The shoe arrives in a custom box modeled after vintage steamer trunks, dressed with hand-painted monograms and souvenir stickers - the kind of trunk you’d find tucked away in an attic, full of someone else’s history.

This shoe was built for those it hasn't reached yet, worn in by time, made better with age and every story carried forward.

The online drawing for a chance to purchase the CNCPTS x New Balance 990v4 “Patina” will open for one hour on Tuesday, July 14th, at 12PM EST for pick up in-store at CNCPTS BOS. Online pairs will be available FCFS in limited quantities on cncpts.com on Saturday, July 18th at 10AM EST.

To celebrate the release, CNCPTS BOS will host an in-store event on Saturday, July 18th from 10 AM to 7 PM EST. Raffle winners will be invited to pick up their pairs and join us at the Boston flagship for an intimate celebration. Winners will receive a pair for themselves, plus a free pair to gift to a family member of their choice. Bring them along: the event is designed to be experienced together, with on-site photography so you can capture the moment with the person you're gifting a pair to.
