Step into a legacy where the roar of the crowd meets the pulse of the street. Introducing: the PUMA H-Street, a silhouette that transcends time and embodies the spirit of an era. Originating from the formidable 2000s track spike, 'Harambee', the H-Street was, and continues to be, an icon of running history that seamlessly transitioned into the realm of street style. This isn't just a sneaker; it's a celebration of PUMA's illustrious legacy on the track, a testament to the golden era of their athletic triumphs. From these victories, a cultural phenomenon emerged, extending far beyond the stadium as artists and style trailblazers began setting their own pace, making the H-Street a symbol of bold individuality.
The H-Street masterfully translates PUMA's rich track and field story into the lifestyle space due to its effortlessly trendy low-profile design. As a continuation of PUMA’s "runner's high" campaign, the H-Street editorial draws inspiration from the confident and unyielding attitudes of athletes from the late 90s and early 2000s. With the Williamsburg Bridge in the distance, East River Park offers a vibrant space for play or just hanging out on the courts and fields. Following Kyla, Mahi, and Emmanuel at the park, this editorial explores how these driven individuals approach life with the ultimate goal of balancing self-expression and accessibility for the communities in which they live.
Raised in a small dairy farm town in North-Central Pennsylvania, Kyla currently lives in Brooklyn, NY and works for a skiing magazine. Her primary focus is on events and marketing in the outdoor sports/extreme sports fields and her goal is to expand sport accessibility to people from all backgrounds and economic placements. Growing up in the 2000’s, Kyla enjoys seeing heritage sports brands put an emphasis on community and inspiration from athletes of the early 00’s: “Bright colors, statement details and performance functionality are all aspects of fashion that made me fall in love with sports from a young age, and I am happy to work with PUMA for this sneaker that reflects all of those aspects.”
With a passion for storytelling and illustration, Mahi Tim has been living in New York for the past 8 years. Mahi is currently working on illustrating and writing his own comic book: “This is something I’m really excited and passionate about. I’ve spent a lot of time on it, in hopes that I can become a better illustrator and storyteller.”
Blending storytelling with functionality, Emmanuel Popoteur is a Washington Heights native and multidisciplinary designer focused on modular furniture, spatial design, and community-driven projects. As a founder of Goodesign, his work offers accessible, customizable systems for modern living.
The H-Street is for the individual who operates with an energy rooted in disrupting the status quo and fearlessly carving their own path in every facet of life. Available in three distinct colorways – a vibrant fuzzy green/silver, a sleek black/silver, and a sophisticated ivory/silver – the PUMA H-Street offers versatility without compromising its iconic heritage. Each hue allows you to embrace the shoe's history in track that blossomed into a cultural phenomenon within street style, where both athletes and artists alike defined their own aesthetic. The PUMA H-Street will be available for purchase on Saturday, June 28th at CNCPTS stores and on cncpts.com.
