Introducing the CNCPTS / Canada Goose Collection, inspired by the incredible tones and gradients of the aurora borealis.
Loosely translating to “dawn of the north”, the term aurora borealis was first coined by French philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician Pierre Gassendi to describe the display after viewing it for the first time in Paris during 1621. There’s an often dispute on who actually saw it first as Galileo Galilei saw it during 1621 and named it aurora borealis as well. Also sometimes referred to a ‘The Northern Lights’, they most commonly occur within the geographic area beneath the auroral oval, which encompasses latitudes between 60 and 75 degrees and takes in Iceland, northern parts of Sweden, Finland, Norway, Russia, Canada and Alaska and southern Greenland. Specifically in Canada, some of the best places to view the aurora borealis is Yellowknife and Whitehorse.
“The gradient green and blue colorways of the aurora borealis were a huge inspiration for the collection, along with how visible they’ve been throughout all of 2024 in the US and other parts of the world,” said Deon Point, Creative Director for CNCPTS. “Mimicking how quickly the colors of the Northern Lights can change when viewing them, we designed the Lawrence Puffer to be fully reversible between blue and green gradient fabrics, while our take on the Marlow Parka focuses on taking in the entire spectrum of blue tones.”
CNCPTS / Canada Goose Collection will be available for purchase at CNCPTS flagship stores in BOS, MIA and NYC, and online at CNCPTS.com on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024.
