Concepts Hosts Lesley University Design Students to Explore Retail Experience and Storytelling Through Product Design

This summer, we hosted design students from nearby Lesley University at our 18 Newbury Street cafe to offer them a look inside the creative process from idea to reality. Our Brand Manager Annie Morgan and Creative Director Deon Point gave students an opportunity to experience our retail space, and understand how the sneaker industry is more than a subculture, before designing a sneaker themselves.

As part of the pre-college class titled, “Graphic Design Techniques for Sneaker Innovation” taught by Tuyen Bui-Lally and other Adjunct Faculty members, students were introduced to the designer's process from concept, to application, and learned how to design solutions in Boston’s sneaker industry affect the world. The class culminated in a summer showcase where the students presented their work in a gallery walk format, and left the class with a broadened view of the graphic design field and the impact it can have on society.

We were honored to offer our 18 Newbury St. space as a place for these students to see a real-world application of the ideas they’re learning in the classroom. See more from our workshop below, and stay tuned for future similar opportunities.
