The long standing relationship between CNCPTS and New Balance has resulted in iconic collaborations over the past couple decades. Now, this release represents a full-circle moment for CNCPTS and New Balance, celebrating the success of their four prior 997 projects—each considered formative in shaping modern collaborative footwear. While those earlier executions leaned on tonal balance and material sophistication, the “Montage” takes an intentional turn.

Rather than echoing what made past 997 partnerships successful, CNCPTS chose to go against the grain, crafting a narrative rooted in the introduction of the model itself and the grunge ethos that defined the era of its birth.

Inspired by grunge and punk, the CNCPTS x New Balance 997 “Montage” leans into a raw, unpolished spirit. The classic silhouette was reworked into a distressed and undone finish, embodying the moody and gritty nostalgia of the 90’s. 

The duality of the shoe pays homage to the circular “what comes around goes around” in culture alongside the ever changing. As true as the 997 is to both New Balance and CNCPTS, the “Montage” breathes new yet nostalgic life into the model.

To celebrate the newest addition to the 997 collaborations, CNCPTS and New Balance are taking over Lou’s, a vinyl lounge in Cambridge, MA on December 10th, 2025. The night will be filled with great vibes, community, and sounds by special musical guests. RSVP required but does not guarantee entry.

Online drawing opens on Tuesday, December 10th, at 12PM EST for in-store pairs at CNCPTS BOS and NYC. Online pairs will be available FCFS in limited quantities on cncpts.com on Thursday, December 11th, at 10AM EST. Pairs retail for $220 USD.
