Air Jordan 1 High ‘85: VIP Experience at CNCPTS Boston

Air Jordan 1 High ‘85: VIP Experience at CNCPTS Boston

40 years ago Michael Jordan debuted his Air Jordan 1 High “Bred”, a colorway inspired by the Nike Air Ship sneaker that became banned from the NBA. Before his self-titled Air Jordan 1, Michael Jordan wore the Nike Air Ship, most notably in the iconic black and red colorway. This sneaker immediately caught the attention of NBA officials for its lack of white, violating the league’s uniform policy. Although he was fined every time he wore them on the court, Jordan continued to wear the sneakers, creating a movement of rebellion and self expression. Instead of viewing Jordan as a liability, Nike embraced this controversy, covering the costs for each fine and ultimately running with the story to fuel the marketing for the Air Jordan 1. By positioning this sneaker as a symbol of non-conformity, Nike and Jordan created hype around the shoe, appealing to fans new and old and eventually becoming the grail that it is to this day.

Although the “Bred” colorway has been iterated throughout the years, the original model and color blocking has remained untouched. 40 years later, the Air Jordan 1 High ‘85 is back in a historically accurate 1:1 replica. For the first time since its inception, the world can truly step into Michael’s shoes with this unapologetic icon. CNCPTS Boston is proud to be 1 of 23 stores carrying the Air Jordan High ‘85, and to celebrate we hosted a private sale for our VIP customers.

VIP customer and guests alike were able to view luxury sports cars parked in front of the store with colors to compliment the sneakers. Entering the store, one immediately becomes immersed in the energy of the music by DJ Brek. After ascending to the top floor, the party was brought to life in this exclusive showroom with ethereal black and red floral arrangements, white glove service of champagne and hors d’oeuvres by The Palm, and even a magician. The lively crowd enjoyed themselves into the night with refreshments, good conversation, and of course, their pair of Air Jordan High ‘85’s.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the anniversary of the Air Jordan High ‘85. To receive updates about future Nike collaborations and events, sign up for the CNCPTS newsletter.
